Instead of Chasing After Them

Selling VS Marketing

Before I share with you what is InterNETwork Marketing, I would like to first touch on the Difference between Selling and Marketing.

Let's go back to my example of a retail business in Fact 3 of the 7 Hard Facts of InterNETwork Marketing . What would happen if the sales staff in the retail shop were to GRAB and HARASS any person walking past the store into the store to look at the products? You know the answer: the shop will probably get a lot of complaints!

Remember the old days at the famous Newton Food Centre in Singapore , where hawkers were pulling and harassing customers? In Singapore, such overbearing behaviour is called TOUTING and is BANNED by the law!

So what is SELLING? When you APPROACH people, it's called SELLING. What most MLM in Asia are doing is NETWORK SELLING. They and their teams are going out to APPROACH people about the opportunity and products. And since they don't know who is interested and who is not interested, they talk to everyone they can get their hands on!

This is NOT very different from what the Newton Food Centre hawkers are doing. The rejection rate is high and the harassment of non-interested prospects is what gives the MLM Network Marketing industry such a bad name. In fact, I think if enough people complain to the authorities, our Singapore government may very well ban MLM Network Marketing in the name of touting!

Approaching VS Attracting

Let me now talk more about the "MARKETING" in InterNetwork Marketing. When you ATTRACT people, it's called MARKETING.

So why do we as network marketers want to attract prospects to us? Because

1) You don't waste time talking to the wrong people and spending lots of coffee money. You only talk to interested, qualified prospects.

2) You will be positioned as a Solutions Provider, a Consultant, a Leader and hence are able to lead your team better;

3) There is little or no rejection!

A prospect that is ATTRACTED to you is infinitely better than a prospect you APPROACH, because you only spend time building relationships and friendships with the right people.

Problems VS Solutions

The moment I got the idea of attracting prospects to me, I set out on a journey to find out how I can do that for my network marketing business. I experimented with various traditional methods and achieved much success, even though I have not started to leverage on the power of the Internet.

1) Flyers and Health Seminars

I and my team printed flyers and distributed them with newspapers or at MRT stations. The flyers promote our seminar which provides information on a specific topic of interest, like "How to Promote Eye Health".

The flyers sell the informative seminar, not our network marketing products. When prospects turn up for our seminar, we give them Information on their Problems and offer our products after the seminar as a Solution to their Problems. The prospects are usually highly qualified, interested in the information the seminar provides and often ended up becoming customers of our products. Even for those prospects who have received the flyers but were unable to attend the seminar, some of them call after our seminar and requested us for information!

2) Pay-Per-Click Ads and Cashflow Training

While the health seminars were great for attracting consumers, I extended the idea further and developed a Cashflow Training based on Robert Kiyosaki's Cashflow Boardgame to attract business builders.

For Cashflow Training , I experimented with Online Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising on Facebook. I was excited about its results because not only does PPC bring qualified prospects to attend the Cashflow Training , PPC's costs were lower! I now only need to pay for people who clicks on my ad (qualified prospects), unlike flyers where I have to pay for every flyer distributed, whether or not the person is interested!

Cashflow Training educates participants on the importance of Creating Passive Income (Problem) and introduces MLM Network Marketing (solution).


My Cashflow Training provided so much VALUE to participants and was so successful that I was interviewed by the Malaysian newspapers!

The key is provide value whether or not people joined your MLM Network Marketing opportunity!

I was able to sponsor new business builders for my MLM Network Marketing business through the Cashflow Training . The interesting thing I discovered was this: the training fees from Cashflow Training was more than enough to cover my advertising expenses. That means I was able to Advertise for FREE and Generate FREE Prospects FOREVER for my MLM Network Marketing business!




Online VS Offline

My first experience with online Pay-Per-Click advertising on Facebook, got me to realize the power of the Internet. I started to explore the "Internet" in InterNetwork Marketing, and discovered a number of similarities between the online and offline world of businesses:

1) Traffic
Traditional businesses have human traffic while internet businesses have online surfers' traffic

2) Marketing Mechanism
Traditional businesses have retail shops while internet businesses have websites. Also, flyers have an online equivalent - online Pay-Per-Click advertising.

I learned that search engines (like Google and Yahoo) and online advertising (like Google AdWords) drive traffic to websites which sells products to generate revenue, somewhat similar to traditional advertising like flyers, newspapers and TV advertisements driving traffic to retail shops.

Network Marketing on Turbocharge

InterNetwork Marketing is MLM Network Marketing with an Online Marketing System. It is the PERFECT marriage of the online marketing power of the Internet to MLM Network Marketing. They are a match made in heaven! There is no reason why Network Marketing cannot tap onto the Internet which has worked so well for online businesses such as eBay. In fact, InterNetwork Marketing is EVEN BETTER than online businesses, because you get paid not only on your own sales from your personal online website, you get paid also on the sales of your team members' online websites! It's like having a chain of online franchise stores that operate 24/7 all year round! InterNetwork Marketing is definitely the Next Phase of Evolution for MLM Network Marketing!
